This course provides a comprehensive, standards-based review of HCPCS L-coding, Medicare LCD requirements, and CMS Policy Article documentation for a broad range of Allard orthotic and prosthetic products. Designed for certified practitioners, residents, and business staff, the program emphasizes accurate code selection, compliant documentation, and ethical billing practices.
Participants will receive product-specific coding and documentation guidance across multiple categories, including lower extremity orthoses, prosthetics, contracture management and range-of-motion joints, upper extremity devices, knee orthoses, and spinal orthoses. Each product group is reviewed in the context of applicable HCPCS L-codes, Medicare LCDs, Policy Articles, and PDAC requirements, ensuring alignment with payer coverage criteria and audit expectations.
The course will review:
· Proper documentation of medical necessity
· Payer-specific policy interpretation
· Ethical coding and billing practices
· Risk mitigation strategies related to audits, denials, and recoupment
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify appropriate HCPCS L-codes for Allard orthotic and prosthetic products in accordance with Medicare and payer coverage policies.
2. Apply CMS LCD and Policy Article requirements to clinical documentation to support medical necessity and regulatory compliance.
3. Demonstrate compliant documentation practices consistent with ABC and BOC standards for professional responsibility and ethical billing.
