Selecting the right interface liner is critical to achieving successful prosthetic outcomes. This Clinical Technique session will focus on how to identify appropriate candidates for WillowWood’s custom DESIGN Liners, with practical guidance on patient evaluation and fitting strategies. Attendees will review clinical indicators—including activity level, residual limb characteristics, suspension needs, and irregular limb shapes— to learn how DESIGN Liners’ unique features support these requirements.
With customizable gel build-ups, multiple suspension options, and tailored designs, the DESIGN liner platform provides personalized comfort, skin protection, and soft tissue stability. For patients with irregularly shaped residual limbs, the custom gel liner profile creates total surface contact from the inside , while accommodating asymmetries and creating a more standard, symmetrical outer limb shape. This allows clinicians to use more traditional modification techniques and socket styles while ensuring optimal fit and performance.
Case examples will illustrate real-world results, highlighting how thorough and systematic liner selection can address challenges such as skin sensitivity, activity demands, and irregular limb contours.
Key Takeaway: Clinicians will leave this session with practical tools to guide the process of matching the ideal liner to challenging residual limbs and gain deeper insight into how DESIGN liners—by shaping the limb from within—improve comfort, mobility and long-term successful prosthetic outcomes.
