Adaptation to a new prosthetic device is a time-dependent process. In this study, spatiotemporal gait coordination ('walk ratio' defined as the ratio of step length to cadence) remained unchanged following the immediate use of a motorized knee prosthesis in individuals with unilateral transfemoral amputation.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to learn adaptation process to a new prosthetic device.
Upon completion, participant will be able to explain the biomechanical evaluation of spatiotemporal gait coodination.
Upon completion, participant will be able to explain adaptation period following immediate use of motorized knee prosthesis.
