Carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) consist of a proximal cuff, a posterior strut, and a full-length footplate. The proximal cuff is a primary interface between the patient and the CDO but there is little information about its effect on patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was to measure forces acting on the foot as participants walked without a CDO and with a CDO using four interchangeable proximal cuffs.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe available literature related to the use of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) to alter foot loading following traumatic lower limb injury.
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the effect of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) cuff design on hindfoot loading.
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the effect of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) cuff design on forefoot loading.
