We explored the differences between forward, backward, and sidestepping during the Four-Square Step Test (FSST) for people with above- and below-knee lower extremity amputations. We found that stride width and length during sidestepping were significantly different than forward and backward steps, and this difference did not depend on whether the person was stepping towards or away from their prosthetic limb.
