Dr. Fatone is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington. She is also the Program Director for the University of Washington P&O Program. She is a qualified prosthetist/orthotist with has nearly 30 years of experience conducting prosthetics and orthotics research and currently leads multiple research projects, including clinical trials, funded by federal agencies. Her research includes a broad range of experimental, qualitative, and review studies and she has published over 100 journal articles. She is an Honorary Member of the Academy and recipient of the Academy's Research Award and multiple Thranhardt Awards.
