Shay is a current PhD student in the Biomechanics and Movement Science Program at the University of Delaware in the Orthotics and Prosthetics for Enhanced Mobility Lab under the direction of Dr. Elisa Arch. Her current work focusses on key factors that influence walking energetics of passive dynamic ankle-foot orthosis use in individuals post-stroke. Prior to her PhD work, she received her Master's in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University where she studied gait in lower limb prosthetic users under the direction of Dr. Steven Gard and Dr. Matty Major. For her undergraduate work, she attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan where she studied Biomedical Engineering. Shay also worked as a research assistant in both the Agility Lab at Northwestern University and in the Northwestern University Prosthetics and Orthotics Center.
