Benjamin Darter is Chair and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University. He received his M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1999 from Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY and a Ph.D. in Physical Rehabilitation Science in 2007 from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. His primary research and clinical interests are in the areas of rehabilitation following extremity amputation, and optimization of gait performance. Current projects he leads involve developing self-report measures of prosthetic attention (cognitive effort associated with using a prosthesis) and assessing the effect of prosthesis technology on prosthetic attention.
