I have over 15 years of experience in health and human performance, including more than five years in strength and conditioning and coaching athletic performance. Early in my career, I was driven by a desire to maximize human performance, but my personal experience with chronic pain ultimately shaped my professional path.
I completed my master’s degree in Human Biomechanics at East Carolina University, where I learned to evaluate movement from a scientific and evidence-based standpoint. I then earned my Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO) from Northwestern University and went on to practice clinically as a certified prosthetist-orthotist (CPO) for over eight years.
In 2021, I returned to graduate school - University of Maryland - to pursue my PhD with the goal of improving the lives of persons with disabilities by addressing conditions that limit mobility—specifically by helping advance regulatory processes, strengthen evidence-based practice, and support the translation of research into the “art and science” of clinical practice.
My research interests include:
i) injury prevention and performance enhancement, and
ii) using wearable sensors to objectively measure human movement.
