Specialized in conservative and surgical treatment of Spine Deformities.
Head of Scoliosis Center of Heidelberg.
My name is Dr. Stefan Hemmer, and I'm delighted to be here in Nashville as part of this German-US exchange. I completed my medical training across three continents—at the University of Erlangen in Germany, the University of Arizona in Tucson, and the University of Queensland in Australia—which gave me a uniquely international perspective on orthopedic care. I am board-certified in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery and have specialized in spine surgery for the past 18 years. Since 2020, I have served as the Section Head of Spine Surgery at the Orthopedic University Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. My clinical focus centers on both conservative and operative treatment of scoliosis, and I am passionate about training the next generation of spine surgeons through our advanced approach courses, complication management courses, and my role as faculty with the International Advanced Scoliosis Academy. My research interests lie at the intersection of scoliosis biomechanics and surgical innovation, including the development of a PeriTrack program for scoliosis surgery. I look forward to sharing insights from our experience in Heidelberg and learning from your expertise here in the United States.
