This project examines how corridor length affects performance on the 2-Minute Walk Test (2MWT) in transtibial amputee veterans at the Minneapolis VA. Participants completed two randomized 2MWTs: one on a short 50-foot course requiring frequent turns, and one on a longer 90-foot course with fewer pivot points. Veterans consistently walked farther on the 90-foot course, covering an average of 18 additional feet with no meaningful change in perceived exertion. Most participants either preferred the longer course or reported no preference. Findings suggest that reduced turning demands may improve 2MWT performance in this population. The results highlight the need for standardized or consistent course configuration to ensure accurate tracking of rehabilitation progress among amputee veterans.
