Kathryn is a third-year PhD candidate studying Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University. She works in the Shepherd Lab for Robotics, Rehabilitation, and Locomotion, where she is currently designing a quasi-passive variable stiffness ankle prosthesis. Her research interests include innovating novel prostheses and utilizing user preference optimization strategies to ensure that users benefit from their devices. Prior to starting her PhD, Kathryn was an undergraduate research assistant at Vanderbilt University, where she received her B.E. in Biomedical Engineering.
