Carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) are used to improve function following traumatic lower limb injury but their effect on balance is unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of monolithic and modular CDOs on patient-reported balance confidence, sagittal plane peak whole-body angular momentum, and range of whole-body angular momentum, as indicators of balance control.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe available literature related to the use of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) following traumatic lower limb injury.
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the effect of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) on angular momentum during gait.
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the effect of carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) on balance confidence.
