Dr. Anton G. Johannesson is a European-certified Prosthetist and Orthotist who graduated from the University of Jönköping in Sweden in 1990. He was previously the founder (1993), partner, and CEO for 7 years of Orthopedic Technology Inc. in Kristianstad, Sweden. Between 2014 - 2023, he served as a Clinical Manager of Prosthetics at TeamOlmed Clinics in Sweden, implementing new techniques and, education, and research within the service part of the company and in cooperation with Össur R&D. Since 1st of June 2023, he was appointed as Director of Clinical Development, Prosthetics at Ossur EMEA.
In 2009, he finished his Ph.D. in orthopedics from the University of Lund, Sweden. The title of the Thesis was "Lower Limb Amputation in Patients with Vascular Disease: Incidence, Postoperative Care, and Prosthetic Functional Outcome with a Focus on Transtibial Amputation," and this work has contributed to a better understanding of the importance of well-defined postoperative treatment after limb amputation. Additionally, he has done NGO work in Namibia, South Africa, Haiti, and Zambia. The current focus is on Ukraine, rebuilding education, and bringing new fabrication methods into the local O&P clinics.
Dr Johannesson has served as an executive board member of ISPO International (2021-2025) and is the Convener of ISO TC 168, working groups 1 and 2.
