Wendy became exposed to O&P while an undergraduate and fell in love with it. After completing her mechanical engineering degree from Yale, she attended UCLA for prosthetics and Northwestern University for orthotics. During the last 35 years, she has been involved in committees for all of the national organizations, including becoming president of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, chairing the Accreditation Committee for NCOPE, and serving on the Academy's State of the Science committee. After 25 years in clinical practice, Wendy entered O&P education where she directed the program at Eastern Michigan University and is now an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University's Orthotics and Prosthetics Center. She has been awarded the profession's Clinical Commitment Award, NAAOP's Achievement Award, the Academy's Outstanding Service Award, and received the highest honor awarded by the Academy: the Titus Ferguson Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the only woman to receive this award.
